The sun is out and it automatically creates a smile on my face, how about you? It’s funny how a thing like the sun can give you that feeling of joy, don’t you think?
Everyone wants to be happy and enjoy life, but stuff like economy, love life, work and not being satisfied with how you look – and so the list go on. Those things have the tendency to bring you down. Buuhuu! I believe that the key to happiness starts with in you and your ability to be happy in the now. Don’t dwell on the past or worry about the future – we all do it, but please STOP that right now. The key to happiness is to be happy in the now, while you work and progress on your goals. Be happy now instead of waiting till you have reached your goal. Does that make sense ?
So here’s my 6 tips which you can use today, whilst working on how tDress well!
- This is probably the greatest tip, which I always use when I feel down.
Dress well, even for the small things as going to work, grocery shopping etc. If you look good, you’ll feel good and confident.
- Be grateful!
No matter how great we think our problems are, I can almost guarantee that there is someone out there with much bigger problems than you. You may have heard the saying “I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” – We have to be grateful for everything we have in our lives. Practicing daily gratitude is a great way to train your mind to have an attitude of joy for the little things and gratitude. – A technique for doing this is writing down three good things that happened, every night before bed time. Just write down three things that went well during your day and reflect as to why they happened. It is proven that you will be a happier person , by to appreciate the little things in life. – So start on your “three good things” list today.
- Be present!
Whatever you do, make sure that both your body and mind are present. Do not eat dinner with your family while you are thinking about work or on your phone. Do not work while you think about what you want to do this weekend. Be present and let your mind focus 100% on what you’re doing. Even if you are doing something as simple as drinking a glass of water – be present. Enjoy the moment and the taste of the water while you enjoy it slowly. Try to find at least one situation every day where you can practice being present.
- Steer clear of negative situations and people!
Another reason for negative feelings and unhappiness are certain people or situations. You probably already know who these people are – it is those who only see the negative side of any situation. They are often pessimistic, angry, dramatizing, critical and rarely have anything constructive to say. These people not only create unhappiness for themselves, they often tear others down around him, by spreading this negative ‘poison’.If you want to be happy, you have to avoid these people and situations as much as possible. Unfortunately it is not always as easy as these people often are our friends or family members. So if you can not completely avoid these people, then it is worth to plan and decide how you will handle them in future situations. Most important of all is that you do not allow yourself to be drawn into such a negative pit.
- Don’t worry about things you can’t control!
Stop worrying about what other people do or say. Accept things for what they are, whether you think it’s right or wrong. Accept it as a fact. A good way to practice this is through identifying the situation where you feel that you have some resistance and simply accept, the situation for what it is
- Random acts of kindness!
A really powerful way to increase your happiness is to focus on helping others by simply performing small random acts of kindness, with no expectation of getting anything back. These could be buying a coffee for a homeless, hold a door for an elderly lady.
Research shows that any random act of kindness increases happiness. So make it a habit to perform at least one small act of kindness every day.
- Take responsibly for your own life!
Be honest with yourself, do you accept full responsibility for what happens in your life?
If we want to be happy, then we need to stop blaming others for what happens in our lives. We have to stop seeing ourselves as victims in certain situations and take responsibility. To be happy, we need to take full responsibility for everything that happens in our lives. When you take full responsibility, you take control of your own life and begin to recognize that your thoughts and actions create results for your own life. – not other people or situations.
